HP Omni vs iMac

Currently, there are 2 mainstream all-in-one computers: the iMac series and the HP Omni series. Since the base iMac comes at a price of $1199.99, it will be compared with the price equivalent HP Omni from the HP website. The specifications are as follows.

iMac-$1199.99

2.5GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 with 6mb shared cache

4GB of 1333MHz RAM ( 2 2GB sticks)

500GB 7200 RPM hard drive

AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512MB GDDR5

1920 x 1080 21.5 inch display

HP Omni 27q (customized)-$1219.99

2.5GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 with 6mb shared cache

8GB of 1333MHz RAM (2 4GB sticks)

1 Terabye 7200 RPM hard drive

NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M with 2GB GDDR5

1920 x 1080 27 inch display

Summary:

The CPUs are identical quad-cores that provide a great multitasking and casual gaming experience. The RAM in both all-in-ones run at the same frequency, but the HP Omni has double the amount. The case is very similar in terms of hard drives with the speeds of both being identical, but the HP having double the storage. Graphics are good on both machines, with the Omni’s being better as the Nvidia card has four times the GDDR5 and a slightly higher clock and shader speed. WHile both of the displays are eye-pleasing full HD, the HP’s display is substantially larger. In general, the HP Omni has a higher spec-to-price ratio and is definitely worth getting for anyone looking for an all-in-one PC.
